National Bookstore Day is Coming!
Publishers Weekly has announced the date of their first annual National Bookstore Day, which will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2009. This special day was designed to to celebrate bookselling and the vibrant culture of bookstores, but authors can also find ways to contribute. One suggestion is to offer free copies of your book to bookstores for use in promotional giveaways or raffles. If they stock your book, you could mention their bookstore event to your email list. You might also offer to contribute to free workshop or seminar series that your local bookstores might be planning for that day. Email PWEvents@reedbusiness.com for more information and to find other ways you can participate.

Can you tell me if the ebook
Can you tell me if the ebook biz of www.darkcastle.com is for real? It looks like they're still developing the site, but the premise looks interesting. Anyway, has anyone here heard of them; and, are they legit? Thanks.
Piper: I have not heard of
Piper: I have not heard of DarkCastle, however, I am initially wary of any company that has a live, undeveloped website with very little information except its fees. It could be a legitimate business, but I would certainly wait until the website is fully developed before getting in touch. I would also monitor Writer Beware (http://www.sfwa.org/for-authors/writer-beware/) for any mention of the site, or you might ask around there.
