Greenleaf Book Group, an Austin publisher and distributor, is looking for a Production Manager. This role is responsible for managing both the design department (cover design, composition, company collateral) and production services (overall project schedules, permissions, ebook conversion, printing). If you are great at scheduling; managing multiple, complex projects; have book production or advertising agency/client experience; and are extremely attentive to detail, Greenleaf Book Group may be looking for you.

The ideal candidate is a great project multitasker with strong leadership skills who can manage 80+ jobs simultaneously, working with graphic designers, project managers, editors, internal sales staff, outside vendors, and support staff to produce quality books on schedule. A project manager with a background in design is highly desired.

Major Responsibilities

For Production team:

• Managing the client experience in the production process (scheduling, permissions, ebook conversion, printing), with the goal of delivering an outstanding publishing experience
• Determining printer requirements for each project and working with designers to ensure that complete and correct files are provided
• Working closely with other departments to ensure that projects move smoothly from acquisition through production and into distribution and marketing
• Proactively identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy

For Design team:

• Tracking, managing, and allocating resources for creative projects, including initial concept, creation/production, and delivery (cover design, interior composition, etc.)
• Managing freelance designers and other outside vendors
• Working closely with consulting services team to plan for upcoming projects and help determine capacity planning

For both Production and Design teams:

• Tracking projects and communicating with clients to ensure they remain
on schedule, addressing requests, managing expectations, and resolving client concerns
• Tracking financial performance metrics for departments (profit margins, overhead, productivity, etc.) and identifying opportunities for improvement
• Coordinating project execution, staff workloads, budgets, timeframes, and reporting
• Supporting and developing a team of direct reports

Distribution Account Executive for Independent Publisher

The Distribution Account Executive performs a multi-functional role centered on providing Greenleaf’s clients and sales partners with exceptional, proactive service. The Distribution Account Executive will:

• Exhibit the highest level of service and diplomacy in dealing with clients, contracted representatives, vendors, and customers
• Manage and execute title data dissemination to appropriate trade channels within strict external timetables
• Proactively champion retail sales for frontlist and backlist titles
• Interact with clients and customers to meet shipping and tracking needs, troubleshooting problems as they arise
• Process orders from customers and business partners and liaise with remote fulfillment center
• Monitor off site inventory records and reports, including receiving
• Advise clients and business partners of item availability, optimal shipping methods, and other miscellaneous inquiries
• Monitor product listings on multiple websites for accuracy and completeness
• Supply outsourced sales representatives with sales materials, bibliographic information, and product samples
• Perform other tasks as needed

Corporate Sales Rep Needed (Independent Contractor)

This position is an independent contract position (commission only). Competencies: The ideal candidate possesses:

• 2-3 years of prior experience in sales, with a minimum of 2 years selling to corporations, associations, or nonprofits (preferably content-related products)
• Ideally looking for someone who has sold books to corporations, associations, foundations, government agencies, or network-marketing organizations directly from publishers for use as premiums, incentives, sales promotions, resale, or for educational purposes
• Demonstrated and measurable success in meeting sales revenue goals (preferably gained in a publishing environment)
• Established contacts and network in the corporation, association, or nonprofit channels
• Superior client and partner relationship management abilities
• Highly motivated, independent, and personable with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to take improvement input from company leaders and team members and turn it into new opportunities for the team and company
• A relevant bachelor level degree or equivalent experience
